Indianapolis offers visitors a variety of world-class museums to explore. These museums can be a great way to learn about the city`s history and culture, or even to gain a better appreciation of fine art.

The Eiteljorg Museum is a must-see for anyone who enjoys Native American art, culture and history. This museum is located in White River State Park and features artifacts that reflect the history of Indiana`s indigenous peoples.

You can also visit the Indiana War Memorial, which displays American history chronologically. This is a wonderful way to learn more about America`s history, and its involvement with wars around the globe.

The Children`s Museum of Indianapolis has been voted one of the top museums for children of all ages. It is well-known for its interactive exhibits and hands-on learning opportunities. There are plenty of exhibits to choose from, including Barbie You Can Be Anything: The Experience, Take Me There: Greece, Beyond Spaceship Earth, and Dinosphere.

Historical Sites

Indianapolis is home to many historic sites that are worth exploring, whether you are a history buff or simply curious about the past. From the renowned Soldiers & Sailors Monument to a national landmark commemorating President Abraham Lincoln, there`s something for everyone here.

Many National Historic Landmarks (NHLs) are found in the city. These buildings have been included on the National Register of Historic Places. A quick search in SHAARD will give you a list of all properties within a district that have been officially recognized for their historic character.

There are also a number of National Parks throughout the state that feature historical buildings and exhibits. For example, Mounds State Park in Anderson has 10 ceremonial mounds that were built by the Adena and Hopewell Native American peoples thousands of years ago.

The Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site in Indianapolis is another must-see for history lovers. The site features the president`s historic home and a museum that explores his life.

The Indianapolis Police Department cannot close down bars that are not in good standing, but it does have a program to provide extra scrutiny for those who have a history of violence and other problems. Even though a bar is added to the program, they may not be subject to additional inspections or drinking tests.

The problem has left the city with a grim toll of killings and serious injuries at bars and clubs, and IMPD officials are struggling to keep them off the streets. IndyStar has identified more than 600 reports of violent acts tied to Indianapolis bars, clubs and event centers since 2016.

Food

Indianapolis is the crossroads of America, a city where food traditions from around the world are brought together and new dining landmarks are born. This Midwestern city is getting some of the national spotlight that it deserves.
